Topsail & Surf City Outdoors-Fishing Report 11-24-08
November 24th, 2008 by CCCB PressHi folks, Capt. David here with this weeks outdoors report. The fish are still biting but it’s starting to slow down. The Reds are still thick in the sound and surf. Some Flounder are still biting and Black drum are thick in the surf as well. Specks are tearing it up and it looks like it’s a banner year too. The piers are still catching a few Spots and mullet along with Red and Black drum and a few Flounder thrown in the mix. Bluefish are everywhere too.
Offshore it has been too danged rough to go out and the guys are staying on the hill. It shouldn’t be long before the bluefin and Fat alberts show up if the ocean will calm down so you can get out without killing yourself.
On the hunting side, a buddy and I went up to western N.C. this past weekend hunting and had a blast. He got a doe, a button buck and a big non-typical 7 pointer. I got a doe. Oh well thats the way it goes. He was sitting in a honeyhole and had deer around him all the time. I saw a lot of deer but I couldn’t get a shot so I passed. I’ll tell you folks something, dragging a 180 lb deer up the side of a mountain ain’t easy even with 2 guys pulling. Maybe I’m just getting old! It was cold up there and it snowed about 11/2 inches on Friday morning and the temps didn’t get above freezing the whole time but we had fun and made memories. Thats what its all about! Well thats about it for this week so be safe and take a kid with you.
